Woodstock School District 200

Love to Read Week

Every year since 1991, District 200 has sponsored “Love to Read Week” to promote literacy and the importance of reading as a lifelong activity to students. During a week in February that coincides with Valentine’s Day, volunteers from the community come into kindergarten, elementary and middle school classrooms to read a favorite book or excerpt with students and to share how they use reading in their daily lives. Participants may choose the day, time, school(s) and even grade level(s) they would like to visit. They may bring their own reading material or ask for suggestions from the teacher or the Woodstock Public Library.

Formal recruitment of reading volunteers begins in early January of each year, but anyone who is interested may contact the Community Services Department anytime for more information at (815) 337-5147.

Love to Read Week 2012

The dates for this year’s program are February 6-10.  Please try to include us in your plans this year.  Just return this sign-up form by Friday, January 20th.   You will be contacted after that date by a staff member from your selected school to make arrangements for your visit.

Thank you very much for helping us continue to promote a love of reading among our students.
